The band of Denis Villeneuve’s original “Sicario” is getting back together as Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin are all set to return for the latest film in the franchise.
Blunt is back as domestic agent Kate Macer, alongside Del Toro as assassin Alejandro Gillick and Brolin as handler Matt Graver.
Brolin and Del Toro returned for the second film, but Blunt did not. Her coming back for the third has already gotten fans excited.
In addition, “The Weight” and “The Exorcism” director Padraic McKinley has been attached to direct, while “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight will write a script.
The title has been set up at Black Label Media and Thunder Road. No word on the storyline but the title is tipped to be a ‘trilogy capper’ as opposed to just another entry.
Screenwriter Taylor Sheridan penned the first two films and was previously linked to have worked on the script for a third. Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill will produce alongside Basil Iwanyk, Ed McDonnell and Erica Lee.
