Aaron Pierre (“Rebel Ridge”) has joined the cast of James Gunn’s “Superman” follow-up “Man of Tomorrow” reports The InSneider and THR.
Pierre makes his debut as Green Lantern John Stewart in HBO’s upcoming DC series “Lanterns” which is set in the same universe as Gunn’s “Superman” films.
“Man of Tomorrow” is expected to be set after the events of that series and will potentially see the John Stewart character in space.
David Corenswet is back as Superman and Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor in a story that sees the two team up to fight the technological alien threat known as Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).
Much of the cast of “Superman” are expected back including Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.) and Maria Gabriella de Faria (The Engineer).
Gunn wrote the script and is directing. Filming is slated to begin next month in Atlanta and run through the Summer.
