Wright Has Done A “Baby Driver 2” Script

Paramount Pictures

Edgar Wright unveils his new take on Stephen King’s “The Running Man” this coming Friday and has been out promoting the film lately.

Speaking on The Discourse podcast, the British helmer confirms that not only is a sequel to his acclaimed 2017 action thriller “Baby Driver” possible, but a script has already been completed:

“There is a script for ‘Baby Driver 2.’ That is something that actually exists. But most filmmaking depends on factors beyond you — timing, financing, who’s available. You’re not always completely in control of those things.”

The original film grossed $227 million from a $34 million budget, making it his most successful directorial effort to date. Wright’s scripting work on “The Adventures of Tintin” ($374 million) and “Ant-Man” ($519 million) remain his most commercially successful films.

The other question would be cast – two of the film’s stars, Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey, have faced off-screen issues that would make their returns questionable. Jon Bernthal, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Eiza Gonzalez also starred in the original.

What’s next for Wright is not clear, though his name has been attached to a remake of “Barbarella” for some time.
