Paramount+ Would Eat HBO Max In Deal

Warner Bros. Pictures

Though offers have been rebuffed three times in the past few weeks, Paramount Skydance is expected to keep pursuing its attempts to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.

Now, new information about the potential deal has emerged over at Bloomberg that says that according to people familiar with his plans, Paramount CEO David Ellison wants to keep the creative teams of the two studios as it.

Where there would be consolidation would be on the marketing and distribution side. Under Ellison’s plan, the HBO Max streaming service would merge into the existing Paramount+ platform.

Ellison reportedly believes that combining the offerings will allow more people to see the work of film and TV show creators, along with making Paramount+ more compelling for subscribers.

The deal would thus see current shows like the various “Star Trek,” “NCIS” and Taylor Sheridan series residing alongside “The Last of Us,” “House of the Dragon,” and “The White Lotus”.

The report adds that there are no plans to sell or spin off the cable networks of the two businesses, such as MTV and Warner Bros. Turner Broadcasting. Paramount’s CBS News could share resources with Warner Bros.’ CNN.

Ellison, a big supporter of theatrical releases, says the plan is to target thirty films a year for the combined businesses.
