Following the highly successful reception to the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard,” that season’s showrunner Terry Matalas was able to use it as a springboard to take on role of showrunner on Marvel Studios’ upcoming limited series about Vision (Paul Bettany).

That eight episode project began filming in March at Pinewood Studios in London with the shoot seemingly to go very smoothly, wrapping by late July. As a result, the show will be ready in time for a planned release sometime next year.

In fact, things have gone so swimmingly that Marvel may be keeping Matalas around. Talking on The Hot Mic podcast, scooper Jeff Sneider revealed:

“I’ve heard that ‘Vision’ is great. And that the showrunner, Terry Matalas, I heard that he may end up working on Nova. He may end up getting an overall deal at Marvel.”

Marvel Studios similarly were impressed with cult filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead with their work on “Moon Knight” leading them to the second season of “Loki” and helping overhaul “Daredevil: Born Again”.

Previously, Marvel’s streaming chief Brad Winderbaum indicated that the Nova property was on hold as they try to figure out their approach to the project.

Alongside Bettany, the “Vision” series will also star James Spader as Ultron, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Ruaridh Mollica as Tucker, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Faran Tahir as Raza and both Ruaridh Mollica and Mary McDonnell in undisclosed roles. There’s also two “Picard” alums – Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y. and Todd Stashwick as Paladin.
