The “Bluey” Movie Set For August 2027

Ludo Studio

BBC Studios and Disney Studios have announced an August 6th 2027 theatrical release date for the feature film adaptation of the Australian animated global phenomenon “Bluey”.

The film has been written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm, with Richard Jeffery also co-directing. Series composer Joff Bush will provide the score with Amber Naismith producing.

The animated movie from Ludo Studio will feature the voices of Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as they reprise their respective roles as Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit Heeler.

Back in December, Brumm said in a statement that after working with a longer format version of the series with the third season finale “The Sign,” a “feature film feels like a natural extension of that.” The aim is for an “experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”

The Australian animated preschool series has become a worldwide smash hit and a perennial hit for Disney+ in the U.S. where it routinely scores high on the Nielsen streaming charts.

The movie marks the big-screen debut of the beloved blue heeler and her family, the film hitting nine years after the show’s debut in 2018. Three seasons were produced which ended in 2023 with a three-part special “The Sign” released in 2024.

The film will hit cinemas first before being available to stream on Disney+ and on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia.
