HBO has released a first look at Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, the gameskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series.
The photo marks the second official shot from the production released this week following a first glimpse at Dominic McLaughlin as young Harry Potter in full costume yesterday.
The photos come as the show has begun filming at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden in the UK. HBO plans to adapt each of J.K. Rowling’s global best-selling novels into a season of television.
They joined the packed cast which includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Mr. Garrick Ollivander.
The show is being written by Emmy-winning producer Francesca Gardiner and executive produced by Gardiner, Mark Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman. The series will debut sometime in 2027
