Taylor Swift Film Gets A Global Release

AMC Theaters

Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which is expected to have a gargantuan domestic debut next month, is now upgrading that to a likely massive global debut.

In a posting on Instagram, Swift said: “The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide. Been so excited to tell you all that The Eras Tour concert film is now officially coming to theaters WORLDWIDE on Oct 13!”.

The film famously skipped the studios and made a deal directly with AMC Theaters for its domestic debut. Now, the exhibition giant and its partners will also tackle international distribution of the movie.

They are currently working to reach agreements with movie theater operators in over 100 countries and representing more than 7,500 cinemas globally. In Europe, the film will reportedly play at every Odeon Cinemas location.

Tickets for international locations outside North America will go on sale for most participating locations starting today.

The film is scheduled to play in more than 4,000 movie theaters in North America, including some IMAX locations, and is tracking for an opening of either just over or under $100 million. That would make it the top-grossing concert film of all time after just its first weekend.
