Netflix Teases Extraction 3, Witcher, Wednesday

Whilst Netflix’s big promotional event Tudum was dominated by new trailer releases, there also were a number of key announcements and updates on other titles.

Extraction 3
First up, Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hamgrave confirmed that a third “Extraction” is officially in development. The announcement comes just one day after the release of “Extraction 2” on the streamer. No details were announced beyond Hemsworth’s Australian black ops mercenary Tyler Rake coming back.

Lift
Next, a new January 12th 2024 release date was announced for the Kevin Hart-led plane mid-flight heist action/comedy movie “Lift”. The film, previously slated for August this year, follows an international heist crew recruited to prevent a terrorist attack by pulling off the in-air theft.

Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Magnussen, Úrsula Corberó, Kim Yoon-ji, Viveik Kalra, Paul Anderson, Sam Worthington, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Burn Gorman. “Lift” is directed by F. Gary Gray from a screenplay written by Daniel Kunka and Jeremy Donner.

Wednesday
The cast of the “Addams Family”-inspired “Wednesday” addressed multiple popular fan theories about the show in a video.

The only thing it does confirm is that a new member of the Addams Family will show up in the new run. Could it be Cousin Itt, Grandmama, or Moritica’s mother or sister?

Actors Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Hunter Doohan discussed the theories for the new run which is being worked on and hasn’t begun filming at this time.

The Witcher
An exclusive clip from the third season arrives showcasing a bunch of bad elves attempting to capture Ciri which leads to Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri fighting back with sword and sorcery. The new season is split in two, with the first part arriving June 29th, and the second on July 27th.

Lupin
A short clip for the third season of the Omar Sy-led mystery thriller series “Lupin” was released ahead of the series’ return on October 5th. The clip has the cops observing a figure running across rooftops – Sy’s Assane Diop who has to take a running jump at one point.

Heartstopper
A new clip from the opening episode of the second season of the Netflix teen dramedy series “Heartstopper” was released along with all the episode titles for the new run.

In the new run Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship, Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges, and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. The show returns on August 3rd.

Cobra Kai
A video of the table read for the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai” was released. Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Xolo Maridueña and Peyton List, among others, appear in the clip that was likely recorded earlier this year ahead of the writer’s strike, which caused the production to shut down and is on hold until an agreement has been reached.

Outer Banks
A video is out for the upcoming fourth season of “Outer Banks” offering “New looks. New season. Same Pogues”. Going by the acronym OBX4, the new season doesn’t have a release date as yet, though with the third season having only just aired in February, it’s likely not until late 2024 at the earliest.

You
Penn Badgley popped up to tease the fifth and final season of “You”. With the fourth season having only recently aired, the fifth isn’t until well into next year sometime and so there’s not much on offer in the clip.

The Archies
Netflix premiered the new trailer for “The Archies,” an Indian musical adaptation of the iconic comic strips set in 1960s India and directed by Zoya Akhtar. The coming-of-age story aims to introduce a whole new generation of people to the now iconic characters in the world of Archie.

The Queen’s Gambit Chess
A July 25th release date has been set for the digital mobile board game “The Queen’s Gambit Chess,” which essentially allows players to tackle a variety of different types of chess across a number of boards.
