Netflix Cancels “Blockbuster” After A Season

Netflix

Netflix has cancelled its new single-camera workplace comedy series “Blockbuster” after one season.

Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, Olga Merediz, JB Smoove, and Kamaia Fairburn starred in the serie which launched on November 3rd and failed to crack Netflix’s weekly Top 10.

The project hails from creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner Vanessa Ramos and follows Timmy Yoon (Park), an analog dreamer living in a 5G world.

And after learning he is operating the last Blockbuster Video in America, Timmy and his staff employees (including his long-time crush, Eliza (Fumero) fight to stay relevant.

The series was also written by David Caspe and Jackie Clarke who also served as executive producers alongside John Davis and John Fox.

Comedies have shorter runtimes than dramas and so are at a disadvantage with Netflix metrics that measure hours viewed. That said, some Netflix comedies have been smash hits including “Cobra Kai” and “Emily in Paris”.
