“Stranger Things” S4 Passes Billion-Hour Mark

Stranger Things S4 Passes Billion Hour Mark
Netflix

Following the release of the last two episodes on Friday, the fourth of “Stranger Things” has passed the billion-hour mark in viewing worldwide at Netflix.

That marks the first English language series, and just the second in any language, to break the billion-hour barrier. “Stranger Things 4” now has 1.15 billion hours of viewing time over its first 28 days of release encompassing both parts of the season.

The two final episodes alone pulled in around 220 million hours in their first three days. Only “Squid Game” (1.65 billion hours) has a bigger viewing time, but with over three weeks to rack up more viewing for the final two episodes – the series could near or pass that amount.

Meanwhile, the Duffer brothers have teased some more about what’s next for the show, telling EW the premiere is going to kick off hard with Matt Duffer saying:

“It’s going to be moving. I don’t know that it’s going to be going 100 miles an hour at the start of 5, but it’s going to be moving pretty fast. Characters are already going to be in action. They’re already going to have a goal and a drive, and I think that’s going to carve out at least a couple hours [of setup] and make this season feel really different.”

When it comes to the end, they already have some of the series finale in mind with Ross Duffer saying:

“While a lot of Season 5 is actually pretty blurry, the last 30 minutes of it are pretty clear in our heads. So if we can make the journey entertaining, I think that we have an end that will hopefully satisfy.”

The Duffers add the finale will be Return of the King-ish and will feature “like, eight endings” as everyone gets to say goodbye. As previously indicated, the plans for the ‘1000% different’ spin-off involves getting someone else as showrunner.
