Cavill Talks Potential “Mass Effect” TV Series

Henry Cavill Teases Mass Effect Project
EA & Warner Bros. Pictures

A good few months back British actor Henry Cavill set the blogosphere ablaze when the actor posted a blurred image of a script he had which was later found to be related to BioWare’s famed video game franchise “Mass Effect”.

Ultimately it just turned out to be a Wikipedia printout, but ever since Cavill’s name has seemingly been added to any potential talk of a series. Then the other week came a report indicating Amazon was nearing a deal to make a TV series based in that universe.

Now, out doing press rounds for the second season of Netflix’s “The Witcher,” Cavill spoke with GamesRadar and revealed he would be up for it if the adaptation was done correctly. Asked about any interest in starring, he says:

“Very much so, yeah, all depending on how they’re executing it. The world of adaptation can be heavy or light. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to be less changed from the source, so it all depends. I think its found a home, hasn’t it? If [the series] finds a home, I would love to have a conversation.

I did not play Andromeda – I had a go at it, but ended up being very busy. But [The Mass Effect Trilogy]? Yeah. Loved it. Brilliant games. It would make such a magnificent series of movies or TV shows.”

The talk follows in the wake of the release of “Mass Effect: Legendary Edition,” a remaster of the original trilogy Cavill mentioned, which was released back in May. A new “Mass Effect” game is also currently in development at BioWare.
