Blockbuster action star Dwayne Johnson has offered a brief update on the “Black Adam” movie at Warner Bros. Pictures, confirming the feature has entered its final week of production in Atlanta.

Johnson says the scenes that they are set to shoot this week are the culmination of all the hard work that has been poured into developing the character and story, and all the intense training he’s gone through.

Shooting on the project kicked off back in April following years in development with Johnson linked to play the role for much of that time in the character’s live-action debut.

The film is also set to feature the live-action film introduction of the Justice Society of America and also stars the likes of Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman along with Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Bodhi Sabongui and more.

The character was originally slated to make his highly-anticipated debut in 2019’s “Shazam!” until it was decided to split the character off into his own standalone film. That said, that film’s sequel “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is currently shooting in the same city so a crossover appearance wouldn’t be out of the question.

Jaume Collet-Serra helms the film from a screenplay written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshiryani. “Black Adam” will open on July 29th 2022.
