Russell Crowe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jared Harris and newcomer Aisling Franciosi have joined the cast of the Sam Taylor-Johnson directed biopic “Rothko”.
The story will chart how Kate Rothko (Franciosi), the daughter of revered U.S. painter Mark Rothko (Crowe), was drawn into a well-publicised and protracted legal battle with his estate executors to honor her father’s legacy.
This resulted in revelations of greed, abuses of power and conspiracy across the art world. Lara Wood penned the script based on Lee Seldes’ novel “The Legacy Of Mark Rothko”.
Jared Freedman, David Silverton, Sam Taylor-Johnson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson produce and filming is planned for this summer.
