Years of development has paid off as TNT’s series adaptation of “Snowpiercer” finally premiered on the weekend to strong viewership numbers. The series opener snagged 3.3 million total viewers across TNT and TBS – the largest debut for a TNT show since “The Alienist” in 2018.
Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs and Alison Wright lead the cast of the series set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. The remnants of humanity inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe.
The numbers come as the ESPN docoseries “The Last Dance” closed out over the weekend – the series overall delivering the biggest numbers in the history of ESPN for a documentary. The series, which deals with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in their quest in 1997 to win their sixth NBA championship in eight years, reportedly averaged 5.6 million viewers across its ten episodes with the finale pulling in 5.4 million.
