“Gladiator” Re-Released For 20th Anniversary

Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures are teaming for a three-night only re-release in action of Ridley Scott’s Oscar-winning sword-and-sandals drama “Gladiator”.

Russell Crowe’s starred in the film as Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, a roman man and favorite of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) who is betrayed by a corrupt prince (Joaquin Phoenix) and comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge. Connie Nielsen and Djimon Hounsou co-star.

Hitting just as DVDs began to become widely adopted, “Gladiator” has been a home video staple ever since on top of a critically acclaimed and highly successful box-office run with $460 million worldwide – the second highest-grossing film globally that year.

Celebrating the film’s 20th anniversary, the film will be getting a new Limited Edition 4K release on on May 5th and ahead of that will have screenings in the States on Monday April 13th, Wednesday April 15th and Sunday April 19th.
