Acclaimed filmmaker Wong Kar-wai (“In the Mood for Love,” “The Grandmaster”) is attached to direct a long-gestating Gucci family drama which has ended up at Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures.
Ridley Scott had been attached to direct a previous version of the film, the story follows the late Maurizio Gucci, grandson of the Gucci founder, as he becomes heir to the family empire. He was gunned down in 1995 with his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, jailed for the killing in 1999.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz have been attached as stars at point or another over the past few years. The project is apparently in the very early stages of development at Annapurna which has been readying a major expansion with more details on that expected soon.
