Dwayne Johnson has officially announced that a sequel to “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” has been set for a December 13th 2019 release by Sony Pictures.
The project would mark the third film in the franchise following the 1995 original starring Robin Williams, and last year’s sequel which was both a critical success and a massive box-office hit which nabbed $960 million worldwide.
Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black are all expected to return for the new film which, like the last one, will go up against the next episodic “Star Wars” film.
Sony has also moved forward the “Angry Birds” sequel by two weeks and will now open it September 6th, opposite Warners’ “IT: Chapter Two”.
