McAvoy. Wolff Not In “New Mutants”

Yesterday came the news that Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy had signed on to star in Josh Boone’s “X-Men” live-action spin-off “The New Mutants” at 20th Century Fox. Both had been rumored for their roles of Wolfsbane and Magik respectively for over a year.

They’re the only ones though it would seem. Both actors James McAvoy and Nat Wolff were also rumored for the project months ago – McAvoy reprising his Professor Xavier role, while Wolff would take on the role of Cannonball.

That’s not the case anymore. Heat Vision writer Borys Kit confirms that neither McAvoy or Wolff will appear in “New Mutants” which begins shooting soon in Montreal ahead of a 2018 release.

Actors for the roles of Sunspot, Mirage, Warlock and possibly, Cannonball are still being sought. The shoot will come before the premiere of the new “X-Men” TV series “The Gifted” this Fall.
