Girl In The Spiders Web Gets Retitled

First reported by Exhibitor Relations, and subsequently released posters have now confirmed it, Sony Pictures has renamed the upcoming thriller “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” two months out from release.

Trying to obviously inform those who don’t realise the film is a sequel to “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” the studio has changed the film’s title to the needlessly long “The Girl in the Spider’s Web: A New Dragon Tattoo Story”.

Claire Foy in the iconic role of Lisbeth Salander leads the cast of the film which aims to potentially launch a new lower-budget version of the franchise – one more expensive than the original Swedish language trilogy, but not as prohibitively costly as David Fincher’s 2011 English language adaptation.

Fede Alvarez helms the new take which is slated to open in cinemas on November 9th.
