Its long been rumored but now it’s official – HBO has confirmed in an announcement that the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” will not air until 2019. A specific premiere date has yet to be announced and HBO’s statement did not provide any further information.
Production on the final season is expected to stretch well over eight months with many of the remaining episodes expected to be ‘supersized’ and borderline feature length (that hasn’t been confirmed). Filming began in October and will continue through until August this year.
Directors for season eight are showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Writers are Benioff and Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
