Filmmaker Zack Snyder will re-team with “Star Trek: Discovery” alum and noted comedian Tig Notaro for what’s being dubbed a ‘hot lesbian action’ film titled “Deviants”.
Notaro recently appeared on the podcast On With Kara Swisher where they discussed Notaro’s time working with Snyder on “Army of the Dead”.
Notaro famously joined the film as a replacement for Chris D’Elia after he was accused of sexual misconduct. Snyder digitally erased D’Elia from the movie during post-production and filmed Notaro’s scenes using CG and a green screen to insert her into the action.
Though only a small role, Notaro says the character became popular for her looks: “I go viral for being sexy in this film, and it was so unexpected. My phone’s exploding. I’m not walking around going, ‘Oh my God. Check me out’…I was so confused.”
That reception spawned an idea for another action movie which Notaro brought to Snyder:
“I called Zack, and I said, ‘I’m hearing it from straight men, gay men, gay women, and straight women that they think I’m hot in this movie. What if we just went for it and everyone’s a hot lesbian?’ He was like, ‘Oh my God, yes, let’s make that movie.’ And so who knows? It’s a Hollywood project. We’re in the process of putting the script together. Picture this poster: We have the name of the film, and then it says ‘Hot Lesbian Action.’ Come on. That’s how I sold him on the Zoom. The movie is called ‘Deviants,’ and takes place back in some old-timey days, like some closeted deviants.”
The project is currently in development. Snyder has most recently been filming the lower budget drama thriller “The Last Photograph”.
