Will Poulter has departed Amazon’s currently in the works “The Lord of the Rings” TV series reports Variety.
The “Midsommar” and “Detroit” actor scored a major role in the mega-budget series in September but now has had to depart due to scheduling conflicts. The exact nature of his former role remains a mystery, but a search for a replacement is now underway.
Actors Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Maxim Baldry, and Ema Horvath all remain attached to star.
Writing duo JD Payne and Patrick McKay are showrunning, Bryan Cogman is consulting and J.A. Bayona is set to direct multiple episodes of the series which will be set in the era preceding the events of “The Hobbit” in Tolkien’s Second Age when the Rings of Power came into existence.
Amazon Studios, Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema will all produce.
