HBO has not yet set the fifth season of “Westworld” according to showrunner Jonathan Nolan.
Appearing at New York Comic Con this weekend to promote his new Amazon series “The Peripheral,” he was asked for an update on more episodes of the HBO sci-fi drama.
Nolan says: “We always planned for a fifth and final season. We are still in conversations with the network. We very much hope to make them.”
HBO has typically renewed the series whilst the previous season was still airing. However, the show finished its fourth season run on the network back in August, and there was no update.
Adding to the complication is the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery and the subsequent cuts that have rocked the company, making even once relatively safe bets not so secure.
Nolan and his “Westworld” co-showrunner Lisa Joy are both executive producing “The Peripheral”, which premieres October 21st.
