HBO’s critically acclaimed comic adaptation/sequel series “Watchmen” is not only a critical darling, but has proven to be one of the biggest TV hits of the year.
Variety reports the series is drawing an average of 7.1 million viewers across HBO’s linear channels and streaming platforms. That makes it HBO’s most popular new series of 2019, and their most-watched new program since “Big Little Lies”.
The numbers for the first episode have grown to 9.6 million total viewers with that number expected to rise with both repeat marathons on HBO2 and binge-watchers finally getting onboard ahead of the finale next weekend.
Interestingly very few are watching it live, with only a little more than 10% of the show’s audience tuning into the first broadcast on Sunday nights.
