Celebrated award winner Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller in James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Gunn penned the script which has been dubbed a completely new take on the property in which DC supervillains are recruited by the government to carry out off-book dangerous missions.
Davis starred in the 2016 film as Waller, the bulldog of a Government department chief who came up with the idea and assembled the group. She marks the second confirmed returnee for the film alongside Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang.
Margot Robbie is expected to be back as Harley Quinn but that’s not confirmed, while Idris Elba is replacing Will Smith in the role of Deadshot.
Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” films this Fall ahead of an August 6th 2021 release.
