The U.S. trailer has arrived for “EO,” the award-winning Cannes entry this year from Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski which unfolds through the eyes of a donkey.
A reimagining of Robert Bresson’s 1966 film “Au Hasard Balthazar,” the film. follows EO – a gray donkey with melancholic eyes and a curious spirit.
He begins his life as a circus performer before escaping on a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside in a journey “marked by absurdity and warmth in equal measure”. Despite the potential for grimness, a lot of the love for the film is that it’s surprisingly joyful, comedic and sincere.
The film has a stunning 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and scores a release on November 18th in NYC and December 2nd in LA.
