Zoe Saldana and Reese Witherspoon are teaming to adapt Tembi Locke’s memoir “From Scratch” into a limited series for Netflix. Saldana will star in and executive produce the autobiographical romance drama that follows an American woman as she falls in love with a Sicilian man while studying abroad in Italy then builds a life with him in the United States.
When she unexpectedly loses him to illness, she is challenged to pull herself through grief so she can raise their daughter as they would have raised her together: with hope, joy and infinite love. Kristen Bell has officially signed on to return as the narrator of HBO Max’s forthcoming “Gossip Girl” spinoff sequel series from original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Bell has been the voice of the narrator since the first season and made a cameo in the series finale.
Consisting of ten episodes set eight years after Dan Humphrey shuts down the Gossip Girl website, the show will now follow a new generation of elite New York teens who end up being introduced to the social surveillance of the Gossip Girl site. ABC is reportedly developing “Revenge,” a follow-up to the Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe-led 2011 series which hails from the original series creator/executive producer Mike Kelley, writer-producer Joe Fazzio, Temple Hill and ABC Studios.
The new version chronicles the story of a young Latinx immigrant who, guided by one of the original series’ favorite characters, arrives in Malibu to exact revenge on a Sackler-esque pharmaceutical dynasty whose insatiable greed lead to the murder of her biochemist mother and a global epidemic. A Higher Loyalty
Scott McNairy, William Sadler and T.R. Knight have reportedly all been cast in “A Higher Loyalty,” the upcoming miniseries about former FBI director James Comey which has been set up at CBS Studios. Jeff Daniels, Brendan Gleeson, Holly Hunter, Michael Kelly, Jennifer Ehle, Peter Coyote, Steven Pasquale and Oona Chaplin co-star.
McNairy will play U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Sadler will play former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, and Knight will play former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. Billy Ray pens the series while Alex Kurtzman executive produces. [Source: Deadline]
Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones”) and Pedja Bjelac (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) have joined the cast of the third season of acclaimed BBC thriller series “Killing Eve”. Camille Cottin, Steve Pemberton, Raj Bajaj, Turlough Convery and Evgenia Dodina are also onboard.
Suzanne Heathcote will be replacing Emerald Fennell as the new showrunner and lead writer which is in line with the show’s tradition of passing the baton to a new female writing voice.
