Tiger King’s Baskin Wants CG Cats In Series

The one show everyone seems to be talking about right now is “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness,” Netflix’s limited doco-series about the relationship between big cat owners Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic. Exotic ended up in federal prison for allegedly plotting to have Baskin killed, along with animal abuse charges, but some believe he should be freed.

We also know that SNL alum Kate McKinnon is set to produce and star as Baskin in a limited series based on the story, and that scripted series hasn’t set a network or streaming service yet. This week, having been made aware of McKinnon’s plans to play her, the real Baskin’s Big Cat Rescue company tells TMZ that they hopes that the producers use computer-animated tigers rather than real ones.

A rep for Baskin says in a statement to the outlet that to do anything otherwise would be hypocritical as “it would be cruel to use real big cats in a television series about cruelty to big cats… we further hope she urges the public to support the Big Cat Public Safety Act that would end the cub petting abuse in America.”

There is no production or release date details yet attached to the new project.
