“Thrones” Spin-Off Pilot Cast & Director Revealed

SJ Clarkson (“Jessica Jones,” BBC’s “Collateral”) has been tapped to both direct and executive produce HBO’s upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel pilot from feature writer Jane Goldman and author George R.R. Martin.

In addition, Naomi Ackie (“Lady MacBeth”), Denise Gough (“Colette”), Jamie Campbell Bower (“The Twilight Saga”), Sheila Atim (“Harlots”), Ivanno Jeremiah (“Humans”), Georgie Henley (“The Chronicles of Narnia), Alex Sharp (“How To Talk To Girls At Parties”) and Toby Regbo (“Reign”) will all join Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse as series regulars.

Created by Goldman & Martin, the untitled prequel takes place thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.

Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Goldman will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Martin, Vince Gerardis, Daniel Zelman, Clarkson, James Farrell and Jim Danger Gray.
