Stiller, A24 & HBO Plan Knicks Docuseries

Apple TV

Actor/filmmaker Ben Stiller has revealed that A24 and HBO are teaming for a multi-part documentary about the storied NBA team, the New York Knicks.

Stiller is set to direct the project, which will follow the team’s full arc from the 1990s to the improbable and record-breaking run this year that saw the Knicks win their first championship in 53 years.

Stiller revealed the news while appearing on the podcast The Roommates Show, hosted by Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart along with co-host Matt ‘Matty Ice’ Hillman. Stiller said:

“Obviously I’ve been shooting some stuff on my phone, but it’s kind of gonna be about all eras of the Knicks. There’s a culmination here of something that has been going on for a long time, so it’s super exciting, and it’s great to have had all this access to your team, and we’re gonna probably be shooting a little bit more during next season. I could not be more excited. This is a dream project, so cannot wait.”

Stiller says he’s planning to interview the players for the doc, which they’ll be putting together over the next year and offer unprecedented NBA access with never-before-seen footage of the team.

Stiller is an executive producer and director Apple TV’s “Severance” but is taking a step back in the third season with Kogonada set to be the new producing director.
