The planned remake of the iconic “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” video game has reportedly been paused in development with the future of the entire project said to be up in the air according to Bloomberg.
Announced last September for PS5 and PC, the game had been in development for three years at Aspyr Media. That company reportedly finalised a demo of the game to show to its production partners Lucasfilm and Sony.
Shortly after that, the game’s design director and art director were abruptly fired and Aspyr’s studio heads are said to have informed staff that the demo had not met internal expectations and so work on the game was being paused.
Aspyr is a subsidiary of Saber Interactive (“Evil Dead: The Game”) which is also working on the remake and could now take over development of the project completely.
