Bill Skarsgard is attached to play the title character while Lily-Rose Depp is in talks to co-star in the remake of “Nosferatu” at Focus Features.
This is the long-gestating passion project of acclaimed “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman” director Robert Eggers who will pen and direct the project.
The gothic tale of obsession follows a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
The film nearly came together in 2019 with Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles starring, but ended up hitting logistical issues.
Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Robert Eggers, Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus are producing. Skarsgard is coming off “Barbarian” and the upcoming “John Wick: Chapter 4,” while Depp will soon be seen in HBO’s “The Idol”.
