Showtime has handed out a series order to the drama “Yellowjackets” starring Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress.
Part survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, the story follows a talented team of high school girl soccer players who survive a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness.
The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly twenty-five years later.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson executive produce and serve as showrunners alongside Jonathan Lisco (“Animal Kingdom”). Filming begins early next year in Vancouver.
