“Avengers: Endgame” directors Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to the comic book world to produce a new documentary series about the Marvel vs. DC rivalry for the forthcoming short-form streaming service Quibi.
Inspired by Reed Tucker’s book “Slugfest,” the series will explore the heated rivalry between the two comic publishers which transformed the marketplace from Marvel going from obscurity to dominating the cinemas of today, to DC with its big film success in the 80s and 90s along with some recent hits and major footprint in television with no less than six live-action series on the air.
The Quibi series will bring to light little-known stories from the men and women behind the creation of some of the most revered characters in the world and reflect on the symbiotic relationship between the publishers that would push the artistic medium to new heights.
Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce (“Believer,” “Framing John DeLorean”) have signed on to direct. Todd Makurath, Peter Rieveschl, Nick Gilhool and Jen Casey produce.
