“Ren & Stimpy” Reboot Ordered To Series

Comedy Central has officially handed out a series order for the upcoming adult-animated reboot of Nickelodeon’s 1990s animated sitcom “The Ren & Stimpy Show”.

The original ran for five seasons from 1991-1995 and followed an emotionally unstable Chihuahua and a kind yet dimwitted cat. It was quickly critically acclaimed and became a part of pop culture with its dark humor that made it often thought of as an adult series at the time.

Spike TV tried a short-lived and poorly received highly explicit reboot in 2003. The new reimagined series is part of the network’s continued effort of creating new content for adult-focused animation.

Comedy Central had also gave series orders to revivals of Mike Judge’s “Beavis and Butt-Head” and Lord & Miller’s “Clone High,” and a “Daria” spinoff series titled “Jodie”.
