The Marvels
Disney and Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” has secured a day-and-date release in China on November 10, same as North America and much of the rest of the world. It marks the latest big studio tentpole film to be granted access to the market since “Oppenheimer” hit a few weeks ago.
Marvel characters were unofficially banned for a three-and-a-half year period until “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was granted a release in February – since then both “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” secured releases. [Source: Deadline]
The Nun 2
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially set an October 3rd digital and PVOD release for “The Nun 2” followed by a 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on November 14th.
The home video release comes after less than a month since the Taissa Farmiga-led horror sequel had its theatrical debut. Bonus features will include two featurettes. [Source: WBHE]
The Sound of Music
A new version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” soundtrack is set to be released on December 1st containing over 40 previously unreleased tracks.
In addition, unheard vocals by Christopher Plummer will debut on a Super-Deluxe Edition released by Craft Recordings and will include eleven alternate takes from the film that audiences have never heard before. Plummer did record songs for the film, but his vocals were dubbed over by Bill Lee.
Film historian and preservationist Mike Matessino, an associate of the film’s director Robert Wise, remixed and remastered the album and included liner notes in the boxed set. [Source: People]
AMC+
AMC Networks has begun rolling out an ad-supported version of its AMC+ service and will charge $4.99 per month for it, as opposed to the $8.99 per month it currently seeks for an ad-free tier.
The ad-supported service runs fewer than five minutes of commercials per hour and contains all the same programming selections as its ad-free version. [Source: Variety]
