Danny Boyle’s 1969-set Murdoch newspaper drama “Ink” has been announced as the opening film of the 83rd Venice Film Festival on September 3rd.

Adapted by acclaimed playwright James Graham from his stage play, the film center on the meteoric rise of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire. Guy Pearce stars as Murdoch alongside Jack O’Connell stars as former The Sun editor Larry Lamb and Claire Foy as his ambitious colleague. [Source: La Biennale]

Resident Evil
An AMC Theaters listing indicates that Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil” reboot is set to clock in at a runtime of just 95 minutes. Tickets are not yet available for the film, which is said to have almost no ‘filler’ and an intense forward momentum.

DC Jimmy Olsen Series
It’s official, Jimmy Tatro (“The Hawk,” “Scream 7”) has closed his deal to play Gorilla Grodd in the upcoming Jimmy Olsen-focused “Superman” spinoff series at HBO Max. Despite the casting, HBO has yet to officially greenlight the series.

Tatro was rumored to be in talks last week to play the hyper-intelligent telepathic ape who has sought to rule both the simian and human worlds. Skyler Gisondo is expected to reprise his role as Jimmy. [Source: Deadline]
