The Green Knight
A24 has given David Lowery’s “The Green Knight” a July 30th 2021 release date. The Dev Patel-led dark fantasy tale, a retelling of the Arthurian legend Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, now arrives fourteen months after its originally slated release. Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Barry Keoghan, Ralph Ineson, and Sean Harris co-star. [Source: A24]

The Gray Man
Jessica Henwick (“Iron Fist”), Wagner Moura (“Narcos”), Julia Butters (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), and Bollywood star Dhanush have all joined the cast of Joe and Anthony Russo’s international thriller “The Gray Man” based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel which has been set up at Netflix.

Ryan Gosling plays Court Gentry, a freelance assassin and former CIA operative hunted across the globe by his former cohort Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans). Ana De Armas also stars while Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penned the script for the streamer’s biggest-budget film to date. [Source: Deadline]

The Game Awards
This year’s The Game Awards ceremony, which saw Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us Part II” sweep, garnered a whopping 83 million live streams – a record viewership for the annual show and an 84% increase on last year’s 45.2 million live streams.

The Game Awards partnered with 40 streaming networks around the world to air the ceremony live including Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Gaming. The event also saw a 31% increase in conversation volume year-over-year on social media. [Source: Variety]

The Thief
“Love and Monsters” writer Brian Duffield has been set to pen a live-action film adaptation of Megan Whalen Turner’s young adult fantasy novel “The Thief”. Jim Whitaker will produce.

The first of “The Queen’s Thief” six novel series, the story follows charismatic ‘Gen’ (aka Eugenides the thief). When Gen is released from prison by a king’s magus, he is coerced into a quest for a legendary object and is put in the center of political machinations, deception and danger. [Source: Heat Vision]
