Idle Hands
Scream Factory has announced a May 12th release date for a collector’s edition Blu-ray edition of 1999’s comedy horror feature “Idle Hands”. Devon Sawa stars as a channel-surfing, junk-food-munching, couch-potato burn-out who can’t control the murderous impulses of his recently possessed hand. Sony Pictures
Sony Pictures will reportedly not be holding an onstage presentation at this year’s CinemaCon, the second year in a row they’ve abstained from the exhibitor confab which runs March 30th-April 2nd this year in Las Vegas. Sony has “Bloodshot” in March, “Peter Rabbit 2: Runaway” in April, “Greyhound” in May, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” in July, “Morbius” sometime in the Summer, “Escape Room 2” in August, and “Monster Hunter” and “The Happiest Season” in the Fall. On the Record
The Sundance-premiered documentary “On the Record,” which was previously set to be released by Apple TV+, has secured domestic distribution at HBO Max. The Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick-directed project scored strong reviews during its festival premiere.

The film looks at the struggle of women of color in the #MeToo movement, specifically those accusing hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons of rape and sexual assault. Producer Oprah Winfrey withdrew from the project back in early January which saw its Apple TV deal dry up. [Source: Variety]

Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“In Fabric,” “Homecoming”) has been cast alongside Mel Gibson and Walton Goggins in the dark comedy “Fatman” directed by Eshom and Ian Nelms. Gibson plays a rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus who is fighting his business decline. Meanwhile, a neglected and precocious 12-year old decides to hire a hitman to kill Santa after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking. [Source: Deadline]

British comedian and actor Matt Lucas will voice the lead role in “Molesworth,” the 2D hand-drawn animated film adaptation of Geoffrey Willans’ best-selling series of boarding school books which is currently in the works at Lupus Films and Melusine Productions. Lucas will voice the role of Nigel Molesworth, a self-confident, tousle-haired public school boy with a mischievous nature and a penchant for power. [Source: Variety]
