Bullet Train
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set a September 27th digital and an October 18th 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release for its BRad Pitt-led action thriller “Bullet Train”.
In addition, the disc release will add up to over an hour of extra content, including outtakes, bloopers, stunt featurettes, making of documentary and an audio Commentary with David Leitch, Kelly McCormick & Zak Olkewicz. [Source: Twitter]
The Emoji Movie
Wall-to-wall coverage of the Queen’s funeral proceedings in UK has led to one outlier – Paramount’s Channel 5- causing a bunch of talk by offering alternative programming aimed mostly to keep the kids entertained. That programming was “The Emoji Movie,” “Stuart Little” and “Ice Age 3” which led to widespread mocking of the network on social media. [Source: Vulture]
The Idea of You
Nicholas Galitzine (“Red, White & Royal Blue”) will star alongside Anne Hathaway in the film “The Idea of You,” based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling contemporary romance novel, for Amazon Prime. Filming begins in October with Michael Showalter (“The Big Sick”) directing while Jennifer Westfeldt (“Kissing Jessica Stein”) adapted the screenplay.
Hathaway plays a 40-year-old divorced mother whose husband left her for a younger woman, and now he has cancelled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. She picks up the pieces, braving the crowds and desert heat in Dan’s place. At the fest, she meets 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon. [Source: Deadline]
Instinct
A24 has scored the rights to the psychological thriller “Instinct” which hails from “Bodies Bodies Bodies” director Halina Reijn. The film, which first played at festivals in 2019, will get a one-night-only event at the company’s screening room on Thursday, September 22nd.
Carice Van Houten plays a criminal psychologist who begins work at a prison where one of her new cases, Idris (Marwan Kenzari) is preparing for release after five years of confinement. Despite her professional misgivings, Nicoline becomes infatuated with her charismatic, manipulative patient. [Source: Variety]
The Guncle
Jason Moore (“Pitch Perfect”) has been set to develop and direct a film adaptation of Steven Rowley’s bestseller “The Guncle” for Lionsgate.
The Guncle follows a reclusive, once-famous gay television star who takes his young niece and nephew into his Palm Springs home after their mother dies suddenly, introducing them to his outsized life. It soon brings about healing for all three. [Source: Deadline]
