NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service has greenlit a ten-episode first season of “Punky Brewster,” a follow-up series to the classic sitcom of the same name.

Soleil Moon Frye reprises the role of Punky while Cherie Johnson also returns and are joined by Quinn Copeland, Lauren Donzis, Oliver De Los Santos, and Noah Cottrell. Freddie Prinze Jr. also guest stars in the pilot as Punky’s ex-husband.
Steve and Jim Armogida serve as writers and executive producers while Frye executive produces along with original series creator David Duclon. Jonathan Judge directed the pilot.
The news comes just ahead of the first demonstration of Peacock for investors later today ahead of the service’s launch in April.
