Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans for the various series and films it pulled from the HBO Max service – including “Westworld,” “Raised by Wolves,” “The Nevers,” “F-Boy Island” and “Say Yes to the Dress” – has now come into focus.
Deadline reports that deals have been struck with Roku and Tubi to launch branded channels this year on both services – bringing more than 2,000 hours of programs in total to each service.
The shows were pulled in December last year amid a financial review of HBO’s portfolio and the aggressive post-merger cost-cutting measures by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
It was expected at that time the pulled content would eventually be distributed via FAST channels services (aka. AVOD platforms) which is exactly what’s happened.
Following the deals, the various shows will all join The Roku Channel in the spring through Warner Bros-branded channels. Tubi meanwhile will launch 14 WB-branded channels and 225 titles on its platform.
Both agreements are for the same sets of content and incorporate hundreds of TV series and movies from the likes of HBO, HBO Max, Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Television.
