Oscar Isaac has closed a deal to star in and produce “The Great Machine” for Legendary Entertainment.
The film is an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s Eisner Award-winning comic book title “Ex Machina,” not to be confused with Alex Garland’s very different 2014 film “Ex Machina” which also starred Isaac.
The story centers on Mitchell Hundred (Isaac), a former superhero who becomes the mayor of New York City after 9/11. Hundred had the power to talk to mechanical devices, and is concerned less about superheroics than issues of government and political leadership.
“Seberg” scribes Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel are adapting the script and Isaac will produce alongside Jason Spire and Vaughan.
Isaac will appear later this year in “Dune” and is about to shoot Paul Schrader’s “The Card Counter”.
