The “Mortal Kombat” film franchise isn’t just getting a live-action reboot it seems as Warner Bros. Animation has announced “Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge,” a new animated feature in the works for direct to disc & VOD release.
“Batman: Assault on Arkham” and “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis” helmer Ethan Spaulding will direct the project from a script by “Supernatural” veteran Jeremy Adams. The film is reportedly targeting a release in the first half of this year.
Joel McHale (“Community”) and Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter”) will headline as the voices of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, respectively. They’re joined by Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang, Patrick Seitz as Scorpion/Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi.
That’s not the only MK action today though as NetherRealm Studios has released a new gameplay trailer for “Mortal Kombat 11” DLC which reveals Joker vs Killer Croc. That pack will debut on January 28th for Early Access subscribers. Everyone else gets it February 4th.
