20th Century Studios’ final “X-Men” film, “The New Mutants,” is tracking to debut with a pretty dismal $15-25 million opening weekend in early April according to long-range tracking forecasts.
Box-Office Pro revealed the estimates, the debut would be a record low for the franchise which hit a nadir with a $33 million opening for “Dark Phoenix” last year and went on to just a $65 million domestic haul.
“The New Mutants” is arriving two years after it was originally slated to debut, the project delayed by eventually scuttled plans to retool the project, and the impact of the Disney-Fox merger.
Josh Boone helms the new film which will reportedly retain his original vision. “The New Mutants” opens in cinemas April 3rd.
