Netflix Ditches Dark Horse Series “Grendel”

Dark Horse Comics

Netflix will not be moving forward with its planned TV series based on Matt Wagner’s award-winning Dark Horse comic book series “Grendel”.

The project had received an eight-episode order with Abubakr Ali set to star in the titular role while Jaime Ray Newman, Julian Black Antelope, Madeline Zima, Kevin Corrigan, Emma Ho and Erik Palladino were also set to star.

Grendel follows Hunter Rose (Ali), a gifted fencer, writer and assassin, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love. He goes to war with New York’s criminal underworld, only to realize… why beat them, when you can join them?

Andrew Dabb (“Supernatural,” “Resident Evil”) is writing, executive producing and showrunning. He and producers Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg and Chris Tongue are now shopping the series elsewhere.
