Screen tests are reportedly underway in London for the live-action adaptation of Disney’s 2010 animated movie “Tangled”.
The studio reportedly conducted screen tests and chemistry readings in the UK last week for the lead roles of would-be princess Rapunzel and outlaw thief Flynn Rider.
Among those who tested for Rapunzel were Teagan Croft (“Titans”),Sarah Catherine Hook (“The White Lotus”), Olivia-Mai Barrett (“Invasion”) and Freya Skye (“Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires”). Lola Tung (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”) was in the mix but didn’t test.
Milo Manheim (“Disney’s Zombies”), Charlie Gillespie (“Splitsville”) and Scottish-Indonesian newcomer Gilli Jones (“Summerwater”) are in the mix for Flynn. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi voiced the Rapunzel and Flynn Rider parts in the original movie.
The other key role, that of Mother Gothel who keeps Rapunzel locked up in the tower in order to use her magical hair to stay forever young, was originally going to have Scarlett Johansson in the part. That’s no longer the case with her commitments to “The Batman Part II” and Mike Flanagan’s new tale on “The Exorcist”.
Michael Gracey (“Better Man,” “The Greatest Showman”) will direct the project, which will shoot in the UK starting in June.
