More Details On The “Home Alone” Reboot

New details have emerged over at The Observer (via Collider) about the upcoming reboot of the “Home Alone” franchise for the Disney+ streaming service.

The new film will follow a husband and wife who go to war with a young boy, Max, who has stolen from them. Max is being described as “an energetic, witty nine-year-old boy with a mischievous side. He feels wise beyond his years and has the personality to easily converse with adults – plus the uncanny ability to relentlessly push their buttons. But, he also displays a sense of innocence and a kind heart much like the original protagonist”.

The studio is also said to be looking for a big name for the female lead. Dan Mazer is being eyed to direct the project which is being co-written by SNL veterans Mikey Day and Streeter Seidel. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson are producing with filming aiming to begin by February.

A petition was also recently circulated suggesting Macaulay Culkin reprise his role as Kevin – the conceit being that Culkin would play it as a nine-year-old boy yet nobody acknowledge that he’s now a 39-year-old man.
