Mike Myers Open To “Austin Powers 4”

New Line

After a trilogy of films from 1997-2002, the “Austin Powers” franchise came to a close and hasn’t really returned since.

Its star Mike Myers remains around, from voicing “Shrek” in films and shorts to occasional appearances in films and shows like “The Love Guru,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and “The Pentaverate” earlier this year.

Appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” recently promoting his supporting turn in “Amsterdam” in cinemas this weekend, Fallon was asked about the potential of rebooting or reviving the “Austin Powers” series. Myers seems good with the idea:

“I don’t have anything to announce. I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of such a project. Yeah, I would love to do it, of course, it’s fun… I have three kids under the age of 11, I’ve been super super busy being a dad… I’ll see what I can do, Jimmy Fallon!”

Rumors of a fourth “Austin Powers” film have been around for years, but have never really progressed. The franchise earned more than $670 million at the box office, and despite twenty years passing since the last entry its characters like Austin and Dr. Evil along with its various catchphrases remain a part of pop culture.
